冬瓜新品種「花蓮1號」（吉豐）之育成及其特性

冬瓜新品種花蓮1號，為花蓮區農業改良場所育成，於民國87年9月17日，獲得前台灣省政府農林廳作物新品種審查小組審查通過，取商品名稱為「吉豐」，並正式推廣供農民栽培。花蓮1號為小型冬瓜品種，葉片掌狀有深缺刻，植株抗「矮南瓜黃化嵌紋病毒（ZYMV）」、「胡瓜嵌紋病毒（CMV）」、「木瓜輪點病毒－西瓜系統（PRV-W）」、及「甜瓜脈綠嵌紋病毒（MVbMV）」等病毒病。對日照長短較不敏感，在長日下亦可開花結果，果重3－6公斤，果長35－50公分，果形為長筒狀，幼果為淡綠色，成熟果表面具有白色蠟粉。果實食用品質佳，且適合於做涼拌、冬瓜盅等。春作每公頃產量可達72.8公噸，秋作達31.4公噸。

A new wax gourd cultivar 'Hualien No. 1' was released by the Hualien District Agricultural Improvement Station in 1998. The commercial name is called 'Chi-fon'. Hualien No.1 is a small-fruit type of wax gourd The leaves are dark-green with a deep-zigzag margin. The color of young fruits is light green, but it changed into white with wax powder after maturation. The weight of a fruit ranging from 3 to 6 kg, and the length ranging from 35 to 50 cm. This variety is highly resistant to many virus diseases such as Zucchini yellow mosaic potyvirus (ZYMV), Cucumber mosaic cucumovirus (CMV), Papaya ringspot potyvirus-W type (PRV-W), and Melon vein-banding mosaic potyvirus (MVbMV). It is insensitive to the day-length. Flowering and fruiting are normally performed under long-day conditions. The average yields are 72.8 and 31.4 metric tons per hectare, respectively, in spring and summer crops.
