There were two female Taiwan beauty snakes adopted by Taipei Zoo, each weighing 1.8 kg. They were both caught in the wild. According to their body size, they were already adults. After blood examination, hepatozoonosis was diagnosed. In addition, their spirit and appetite appeared to be normal. After receiving the first therapeutic treatment, the blood examination revealed that the number of hepatozoon was reduced in both snakes and the erythrocyte was vacuolated. Both snakes died after treatment for one month. Microscopically, the epithelium of oral cavity. trachea. and lung were infiltrated by inflammatory cells and granulomatous tissue was found. Necrotic trachitis and pleuritis were noted. In Taiwan, this is the first case of treatment for hepatozoonosis.
