菊花與枸杞萃取物於糖尿病性白內障大鼠模式之臨床影響分析

The Effects of Chrysanthemum morifolium and Lycium barbarum on Diabetic Cataract in Rats

摘要


本實驗利用streptozotocin誘導Spague-Dawley大鼠做為糖尿病眼部病變的動物模式,發現糖尿病大鼠生長遲滯,體重隨著時間而逐漸減少,且體內醣類代謝指標糖化血紅素濃度隨時間逐漸上升。水晶體病變方面,白內障最早於糖尿病後第2週便可發現細小空泡化的形成,水晶體混濁的區域隨時問進展展慢慢的增加。利用糖尿病大鼠所出現的眼部病變,我們檢驗枸杞與菊花這兩種傳統中草藥對於這些糖尿病併發症的影響與保護效果。發現枸杞與菊花在糖尿病後的前4-5週具有減緩體重下降的效果,但血糖方面無明顯的改善。菊花具減緩白內障發展速度的效果,雖無法達到顯著差異,但仍被視為具潛力的藥物。而本研究所使用的大鼠模式與所檢視之眼部病變差異,可以做為未來研究糖尿病眼部併發症的參考。

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a disease characterized by impaired glucose metabolism that affects all tissues in the body, including the lens and retina of the eye. Diabetic cataract is one of the major ocular disease caused by chronic hyperglycemia. In this study, streptozotocin (STZ) was intraperitoneally injected to 8 weeks old Spague-Dawley rats. The body weight was decreased and glycated hemoglobulin levels were increased progressively. Cataract formation was studied in the rats for a period of 8 weeks. Two Chinese herbal medicines, Lycium barbarum (Gou Qi Zi) and Chrysanthemum morifolium extracts, were administrated to assess the effects on diabetic ocular complications. The decreases of body weights in lyceum- and chrysanthemum-treated groups were minimal in first four weeks after STZ treatment. The cataractogenic process of lens was observed from the 2(superscript nd) week following streptozotocin induction. Although the process of catarogenesis slowed down in Chrysanthemum-and Lycium-treated groups, it did not reach statistical significance between 2 growps.
