New All-optical Switches by Using Localized Optical Nonlinearity and a Parabolic Control Waveguide

We propose new all-optical switches by using localized optical nonlinearity and a parabolic control waveguide. All-optical switching operations can be obtained by simply setting localized nonlinear media and properly changing the control power. All-optical switching characteristics of the devices are analyzed by the beam propagation method (BPM). The numerical results show that the proposed devices could really function as all-optical switches.
