典藏民族誌影片社區放映之過程與意義:以排灣族《內文社五年祭》影片為例

Differential Participation of Archive Sharing-Community Viewing of "The Maljeveq of Caqovoqovolj, 1934"

摘要


台大人類學系所收藏《內文社五年祭》影片,記錄了1934年南排灣內文社相關二十三個部落遷村前共同舉辦的五年祭。這部早期的民族誌影片也是當代排灣族後人與學者所關注的歷史紀錄。2008年至2009年間,台大人類學系規劃影片重返內文社群相關部落的放映計畫,期望透過與地方合作的形式,共同籌畫放映會並回顧影片與相關歷史。本文以六場聚落放映會的經驗為基礎,檢視放映會的規劃、地方合作對象的溝通、放映會形式與分享座談等不同面向,確認學院力量、資訊與地方的互動。在六個聚落中不乏積極轉化外來力量,納入社區的目標、組織與活動脈絡的例子。由於不同社區在放映會的進行形式、觀眾關注的議題及互動上並不多同,這樣的差異觸發了兩個方向的討論:其一,學院典藏進入地方、參與地方發展框架的合作形式與可能議題;其二,具有不同歷史經驗與記憶的個人如何理解、詮釋典藏影像,並重新建立、分享自身對於過去的記憶。

The Maljeveq film (1934) archived at the department of anthropology at NTU records the collective ceremony Maljeveq which was held by Caqovoqovolj communities of Paiwan before their forced relocation by the Japanese colonial government. This film is not only a very early ethnographic film but also a visual record that is of interest to researchers and Paiwan people alike. From 2008 to 2009, the project took the digitalized film to the corresponding Paiwan communities and held public screenings. The purpose was to establish a pattern of collaboration that opened the possibilities for the local communities to become active participants in the film screenings and use them for their efforts to trace the history of Caqovoqovolj. In this paper, we examine the dialogical interaction between, on the one hand, academic resources and information and, on the other hand, local subjectivities. Different communities proposed different procedures for reviewing the film, and the different local audiences showed diverse responses. These differences evoke two sets of questions: one is related to how the ethnographic archive enters local issues and frames, and how academia can cooperate with the ways in which the local populations propose to use the ethnographic record depicting their ancestors; the other set of questions relates to how local individuals with diverse experiences and memories read and interpret the archive images, and how they co-construct a collective memory of the tribal past.
