This thesis presents a novel design for cordless venetian blinds, mainly includes a new tilting adjustment mechanism and a new profile design of cord drum. This design uses cord drum to retract the cord which controls the position of venetian blind, in the meantime it also simulatneously actuates the new friction ring via the contact with cord drum to achieve the adjustment of the required tilting angle of the slat. The total components in this novel design is less than that of the current available products, therefore, it could reduce the cost of manfacturing and increase the competitiveness. The detail design has been done in SolidWorks software, ans part of its components have been made by 3D printing. The prototype of this novel design has been complteted and tested, and its feasibility fhas been confirmed.
