Reducing the Side Effects of Fraxel^™ SR Resurfacing by Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

以高壓氧治療降低飛梭雷射之副作用

摘要


背景:飛梭雷射已是普及的美容治療。雖然能夠增進膠原組織生成和縮短傷口癒合時間,一些皮膚紅腫熱痛等副作用仍舊困擾著病人。根據已知的經驗,高壓氧治療能夠改善紅腫與促進傷口癒合。目的及目標:我們藉由在飛梭雷射病人身上使用高壓氧治療,來了解是否能夠幫助傷口癒合與減少不適。材料及方法:總共收集38位接受飛梭雷射治療病人。其中17位病人在飛梭治療後接受高壓氧治療,其餘21位病人則為常壓對照組。前瞻性地,我們收集病人的基本資料、照片、客觀與主觀類別分析,以及回到工作岡位的時間,來比較兩個不同組別。結果:臨床上,高壓氧組在飛梭雷射後48小時後與對照組在減少發紅(p=0.046)與回到工作岡位時間(p=0.001)有顯著差異。在疼痛緩解上,高壓氧組在飛梭雷射後24小時(p=0.048)與48小時(p=0.033)能夠達到顯著程度的改善。結論:飛梭雷射後的病人給於高壓氧治療能夠降低發紅和減少回到工作岡位時間。高壓氧可以提供飛梭雷射後一個輔助治療的選擇。

Background: Fraxel^(TM) SR (FSR) resurfacing has become a popular aesthetic procedure. Although the enhanced collagen synthesis and shortened healing period make patients more comfortable, but side effects, such as redness, swelling, and pain often bother the patients. It is well known that hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is beneficial to reduce swelling and edema and to improve wound healing. Aim and Objectives: We would like to investigate whether HBOT applied after FSR resurfacing, can improve our treatment quality by achieving the re-epithelization of skin and reducing the discomfort of the patients. Materials and Methods: Thirty eighty patients were recruited into this study to undergo FSR resurfacing. Of the 38 patients, 17 patients were allocated to the HBOT group and 21 to the control group (normal air). Prospectively, the basic data, photos, objective appearance, and subjective pain score, and record of downtime were consecutively collected for comparison. Results: Our results demonstrated that HBOT significantly reduced redness 48 hours after procedure (p=0.046) and shortened post-procedure downtime (p=0.001) in patients after FSR resurfacing. Pain relief is also significantly achieved in patients 24 hours (p=0.048) and 48 hours (p=0.033) after HBOT. Conclusion: HBOT applied immediately after FSR resurfacing, can improve our treatment quality by attenuating redness and shortening post-procedure downtime. We propose HBOT as an adjuvant therapeutic choice after FSR resurfacing.
