This is a case report of a five-year-old patient with unilateral buccal crossbite of the primary maxillary left first and second molars treated with mandibular expansion via removable appliances. Lower arch expansion was achieved with Schwarz appliance with acrylic occlusal coverage. Upper arch was stabilized using a similar appliance with screw activated to decouple the expansion force of the mandible. Correction of buccal crossbite was achieved within two months period. This report demonstrates that early intervention of buccal crossbite with removable appliances is a viable solution to eliminate a potentially complex malocclusion in the future and upper arch stabilization sometimes is needed during lower arch expansion.
