編織古今的手工藝:試探西西《我的喬治亞》、《縫熊志》與《猿猴志》中的「遊戲」意涵

摘要


《我的喬治亞》、《縫熊志》和《猿猴志》,是西西手作微型娃娃屋、毛熊和猿猴布偶的過程中所書寫出來的作品。在《我的喬治亞》裡,西西一手拼組娃娃屋,一手創造了遊走於虛實、混融於古今的喬治亞時代,透過多元媒材的混搭,以及不同角色的殊異觀點之對話,暗示了真實具流動之特性,也辯證性的回應了「娃娃屋是否該反映現實」的問題意識。其次,西西在陳果執導的電影《我城》中說:「我用熊來寫作」,用來解釋病後的她,以縫熊、縫猿猴這樣的書寫形式,取代過去的手寫模式,這些色彩繽紛、姿態各異的動物,是對中國古典和當今生態的深情凝視,更重要的是,像西西這樣一個讀者/作者的意義授予和創意拼貼,以及向經典致敬的語境下,更含攝了對中外、古典、現當代文學和大師的創造性回眸,傳遞了西西所謂「認真的遊戲」的創作精神。

"My Georgia", "The Book of Bear Making", "The Book of Apes Making", were published by Xi Xi while she made doll houses, bears and apes. In "My Georgia", Xi Xi made doll houses, at the same time, she created George family which is between reality and fabrication, and also mixed contemporary and historical materials. Xi Xi responded profound questions like "Should doll houses reflect real life and its corresponding history?" and tried to point out that the reality is unclear by creating dialogues between different roles. Furthermore, Xi Xi claimed she has been writing by stitching bear since she went through operations for treatment and could not write by hand. These colorful and diverse animal dolls, can be seen as deep reflections on both traditional and modern Chinese literature writings. More importantly, a writer/reader such as Xi Xi, these manifestations and creative collages, and references honoring past literatures, embody creative reviews of east/west, modern/traditional masterpieces, conveying directly the "serious playing" creative spirit emphasized by Xi Xi.
