Based on the theory of domestication of technology, the study adopted an in-depth interview method to analyze the relationship between an iPad user and his iPad. Our results provide a research framework of technological domestication which consisted of four phases: the appropriation phase of trial and error, the objectification phase of mobility and dedication, the incorporation phase of intimation and being used to, and the conversion phase of connection and rejection. The results also help to explain why some products are used not under their original design purposes. This paper ends with a suggestion that the inquiry of user experience can be approached not only from psychological aspect, but also from the socio-cultural aspect of his or her life.
