Alpha particles produced by the interaction of 14.1 MeV neutrons with neon have been studied by using a cloud chamber. The energy distribution of the alpha particle is agreeable with the predictions of the evaporation theory. The relative level density plotted from the energy distribution of the alpha particles fits a straight line, except on the high excitation energy side and corresponds to a nuclear temperature of 1.78±0.05 MeV. The angular distribution in the center-of-mass system is approximately symmetrical with respect to 90”. The spin cut-off parameter is estimated to be about 1.66±0.05 from the angular distribution. The total (n,α) cross section for the reaction is found to be 274±4 mb.
