Physical exercises have a positive physical and psychological health influences, and it is important in the life cycle from childhood to extreme old age. According to the research, motivation is a facility that helps people advance learning and bring about behavioral changes, progressing from amotivation to extrinsic motivation and finally intrinsic motivation to account for the different reasons why individuals engage in activities. Motivation in exercise refers to the initiation, direction, intensity and persistence of people doing exercise. This review aims to give an overview of types of motivation in exercise based on Self-Determination Theory (SDT) and studies published. Hope this article could give some information to all the physical education class instructors and researchers for the future study; furthermore, help people to increase their motivation involve in physical exercise.
