Reye's Syndrome: A Case Report
摘要
一九七四年八月在臺大醫院發現一例Reye氏症候羣，病人係五個月的男嬰。他在住院前一個月開始發生間歇性咳嗽、腹瀉，兩星期後開始間歇性的輕微發燒，住院前一天開始偶有嘔吐。住院時發現肝臟腫大。住院第二天頻有嘔吐、呼吸增快並且不安。在住院第三天所做的肝功能檢查顯示中等度的GOT和GPT昇高。在葡萄糖靜脈內輸液中檢查的血糖則為110 mg%。他終於在住院第四天死於頑惡的新陳代謝酸中毒和深度昏迷。本病例最顯著的病理變化包括腦水腫、肝臟和腎臟近端細尿管的脂肪變性。有關Reye氏症候羣的文獻，本文亦加回顧並作討論。

A case of Reye's syndrome in a 5-month-old male infant admitted to the Department of Pediatrics, National Taiwan University Hospital in August 1974, is reported. He had suffered from intermittent cough and diarrhea for 1 month, intermittent mild fever for 2 weeks and occasional vomiting for 1 day before admission. Hepatomegaly was disclosed on admission. Frequent vomiting, tachypnea and irritability developed on the 2nd day of admission. Liver function test on the 3rd day of admission showed moderately elevated GOT and GPT. Blood sugar was 110 mg % during intravenous glucose infusion. He finally died of intractable metabolic acidosis and deep coma on the 4th day of admission. The most striking pathological findings in this case were cerebral edema, fatty degeneration of the liver and the proximal tubules of the kidneys. The literature was reviewed and discussed.
