Modified static bending test on wood pallet is adopted in this study to investigate the effects of wood species, deckboard thickness, stringer width and thickness on the maximum deflection, maximum creep amount and stiffness of pallets. Results show that the maximum prescribed load (2394kgf) can be achieved without pallet rupture provide that pallets are free of noticeable knots or serious surface checks and not of se type. The maximum deflection and creep amount of abovementioned pallets do not exceed 30mm and 1mm, espectively. Kapur pallets have the best bending strength, and the pallets made of domestic hardwood species are the poorest. Type D pallets show the best bending strength than the others. The bending strength of pallet increases with increasing deck-board thickness, stringer width and thickness. Defect possessed by pallet controls the pallet rupture mode.
