The investigation of macrofungi was performed twice a month in the proposed Taiwan Red Cypress Ecological Conservation Area of the Experimental Forest of National Taiwan University for one year. A total of 22 species of macrofungi have been collected and identified in 21 genera after 24 field investigations. Results revealed 6 dominant macrofungi species in Taiwan red cypress natural forest, including Ganoderma austral, Trametes versicolor, Stereum ostrea, Lauriliella taxodii, Heterobasidion annosum, and Phellinus gilvus. This can be used as a reference for establishing the ecological conservation area in the future. We recommend that the administration conduct long-term monitoring and research to strengthen the in-depth understanding of macrofungi diversity maintenance medium- to high-altitude areas.
