Professor Ming-Jou Lai had studied lichens and bryophytes all his life and had collected a lot of specimens for research. At the end of 2008, his wife, Jing-Jhih Liang, donated all of the specimens stored at Sanchung City, Taipei County to National Taiwan Museum. After examination, a total of 1458 specimens collected by Professor Ming-Jou Lai has been documented and preserved by the Herbarium of National Taiwan Museum, including lichens, liverworts, and mosses. The list of specimens identified by Professor Lai includes 107 families, 242 genera, and 510 infraspecitic taxa. According to the collection times and locations, these specimens belong to the early collection of Professor Lai.
