Three types of root canal were categorized. Type I is the single canal with one foramen. Type II is the incomplete divided canal. 227 permanent mandibular incisors were studied by using transparent dyeing method and reviewed the distributions among the above three types. The results were as follows: 1.For central incisors Type I 62.7% Type II 30.0% Type III 7.3% 2.For lateral incisors Type I 45.3% Type II 43.6% Type III 11.1% 3.There is a statistical difference in the incidence of root canal between the central incisors and lateral incisors (x2=6.93, p<0.05). 4.The incidence of the lateral canal, apical ramification and transverse anastomosis in lateral incisors was higher than that in central incisors.
