Examining the Efficiency of Discharge Planning of the Patients with Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty

摘要

The purpose of this study was to examine the efficiency of discharge planning in relation to the patients with percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty. A case control study design was used and PTCA subjects were recruited. The means of research included a demographic sheet and a structural questionnaire. After data were collected, descriptive inferential statistics included the independent t-test, χ^2, and Fisher's exact test were used to compare the control and case groups' differences in satisfaction, re-admissions, re-emergency visits, and the hospital length of stay (LOS). Response rates were 36.4% (n=63) and 40.0% (n=68) in the control and case groups respectively. The results showed that the mean score of patient satisfaction significantly increased from 2.3 to 2.8. The fourteen-day post-discharge readmission, re-emergency, and LOS were significantly reduced. This study could provide helpful information for PTCA nurses responsible for discharge planning.
