The subject of this case attempted suicide through carbon monoxide poisoning. Upon check-in, a comprehensive evaluation of the patient was made. Data were collected through the skills of observation, participation, and conversation. In addition, a clinical nursing evaluation was made utilizing the Orem adaptation model. Critical health problems took priority according to emergency treatments. The subject's health problems included impaired gas exchange, ineffective tissue perfusion (cerebral), and specific knowledge deficit. Dysfunction of the patient's personal adaptation was found during the moments when the patient's physiological condition was stable. Attention must be given to the psychological reason for the attempted suicide. Also, emphasis needs to be placed on helping the patient, rebuild and establish positive adaptation skills. Care and support from family and nursing staff is crucial. We are honored to share our experience in this particular case with other professionals in the field.
