以氯醛糖麻醉之貓為實驗動物,吾等發現電刺激延腦巨細胞網狀神經核所產生之慢心(bradycardia)的程度與電刺激之脈頻(pulse frequency),脈期(pulse duration)與脈強度(pulse intensity)關係密切。每一刺激變數皆有一適當之値以誘發最大之慢心效果。在電刺激腦組織之研究中,找尋刺激變數之適當組合的重要性曾加以討論。

In chloralose-urethane anesthetized cats, the degree of bradycardia produce by electrical activation of the medullary gigantocellular reticular nucleus(GRN)was found to be intimately related to the pulse frequency, pulse duration and pulse intensity of the stimulus train. Furthermore, each stimulus parameter had an optimal value that correlated with the maximal GRN-induced cardioinhibition. It is discussed that identification of the optimal combination of stimulus parameters is critical in studies involving electrical excitation of brain tissues.
