Effects of Temperature and Concentration on the Micellization of Nonionic Polyethoxylated Surfactants

溫度與濃度對聚氧乙烯系非離子型界劑微胞生成之影響

摘要


本研究以動態光散射法探討聚氧乙烯系非離子型界面活性劑C10En(n=4,6 and 8)、Triton X-100與Triton X-405的微胞粒徑及其擴散係數。以往文獻所探討的濃度範圍多半在數十到數百倍cmc,本研究則主要觀察數倍cmc之濃度範圍內微胞的變化。我們改變濃度與溫度兩種變因,觀察其對微胞粒徑的影響。研究結果顯示此五種非離子型界面活性劑的微胞均隨著溫度的上升而變大,並且當聚氧乙烯數目愈多時,微胞的粒徑愈小。

The diffusivity and micellar size of polyoxyethylene non ionic surfactants, C10En (n = 4, 6 and 8), Triton X-100 and Triton X-405, were investigated using the dynamic light scattering method in this work. This study focused on studying the dilute surfactant solutions with concentrations of only a few times cmc.The effects of the concentration and temperature on micellization are discussed. Experimental data indicate that for the nonionic polyoxyethylene surfactants in this study: (1) the micelles grow as the temperature increases and (2) surfactants with longer hydrophilic EO groups form smaller micelles.
