Female Condition Changes and Its Relation to Egg Size during the Spawning Season of the Black Porgy,Acanthopagrus Schlegeli

本研究擬從黑鯛(Acanthopagrus schlegeli)母魚狀態在產卵季節中的變化情形及其對魚卵大小之影響,來探討卵徑、母魚狀態及季節三者間之關係。研究結果顯示,母魚狀態會隨季節的運轉而發生變化:母魚腸間膜脂肪重量在產卵季初期時出現高峰;GSI與HSI在產卵季中期出現最大值;肥滿度與肌肉脂肪在產卵季初期與中期均維持高指數與高含量的現象;以及,在產卵季末期時母魚狀態參數值多數達最低。相對地,卵徑隨季節變動的現象卻不明顯。本研究中雖然發現黑鯛卵徑的變異主要源自於母魚之不同,但所選母魚狀態參數與卵徑間之相關均不顯著。由母魚狀態在產卵季內之變化及其特性分析結果,黑鯛產卵季的初期可視為母魚能量之高貯存期,並在中期時母魚的生殖付出會達到高峰,之後,在產卵季結束時母魚能量的貯存及生殖的付出均會消耗到最低。此外,黑鯛卵大小在產卵季中無顯著變動的特性,顯示生產特定大小的魚卵,可能是黑鯛為適應環境要求之一種生殖策略演化。

This work studied the changes in female condition and its influence on the egg size ofthe black porgy,Acanthopagrus schlegeli,during the spawning season.Female conditionvaried in the spawning season.The relative size of fat body in the intestinal mesenterywas the largest at the beginning of the spawning season,December,whereas conditionfactor and lipid content in muscle were high during the first two-thirds of the spawningseason,December-February.Gonadosomatic and hepatosomatic indexes reached thehighest in the mid,February.Most variables of the female condition were the lowest in theend,April.Variation of egg size during the spawning season was not significant but eggsize differed significantly among females.A simple relationship between egg size andfemale condition was not found.Based on the variations and properties of female condition,energy reserves of the females were high in early spawning season;reproductiveoutput increased in mid spawning season;and at the end both reserves and outputdeclined.In addition,egg size was found to remain unchanged,regardless of the apparentchange of related female condition during the spawning season,implying that in the blackporgy a particular size rather than a large quantity of egg was adopted to fit the environmentalrequirement during the evolution of reproductive strategy.
