The Development of New Alloy Steel for Energy and Resource Saving

台灣鍛造業者以往利用Cr-V合金鋼(AISI 6150)為原料生產高級手工具,由於AISI 6150具有高淬火硬化特性,熱鍛後硬度高達HRC 32,須先施以軟化退火,使鋼材硬度降低至HRB 95以下,以利後續切削加工,但Cr-V合金鋼軟化退火耗時長,經常造成生產瓶頸。為降低生產成本,提高市場競爭力,開發Ni-Cr新合金鋼料,取代傳統之Cr-V合金鋼,省略軟化退火製程,以節省能源,縮短製程。本研究結果顯示,新開發之合金鋼(0.5C-0.2Si-0.25Mn-0.35Cr-0.35Ni)熱鍛後硬度為HRB 90-95可省略軟化退火製程,直接切削加工;下游客戶以Ni-Cr新合鋼製造高級手工具,經熱處理後,其性能優於傳統之AISI 6150 Cr-V合金鋼。新合金鋼完成實驗室測試,於民國77年初正式進入商業化量產階段,累計三年多的現場實際生產統計資料顯示,煉鋼時之合金添加量,Ni-Cr新合金鋼(3220公斤/爐)為AISI 6150 Cr-V合金鋼(6430公斤/爐)之一半,大量節省合金資源;軋鋼時新合金鋼之表面品質大幅改善,軋壞率與剔退率亦下降。

A new bar material is developed to substitute for AISI 6150 Cr-V steel for hot forging to eliminate annealing process after hot forging. Before the new material developed, Cr-V alloy steel bar AISI 6150 was used for hot forging material of hand tools such as pliers, after hot forging the hardness of the as forged steel is about HRC 35, it must be annealed to lower than HRB 95 for further machining. The new bar material (0.5C-0.2Si-0.25Mn-0.35Cr 0.35Ni) has successfully substituted for AISI 6150 Cr-V Seel for hot forging. The characteristics of the new bar material are descbribed as follows: 1. The hardness after hot forging is HRB90-95 and can be machined directly without anneling which saves energy and reduces processing time for down stream customer. 2. The microstructure of the new bar material after hot forging is mainly pearlite with little after hot of martensite and bainite for AISI 6150 Cr-V steel. 3. The hardness of the new bar material after oil quench is about HRC60, after tempering at 300°C-350°C, the hardness is about HRC44-50. 4. After induction heat treatment, the hardness distribution of the new bar meaterial measured from the cutting edge pliers is more uniform than that of AISI 6150 Cr-V steel.
