Recovering waste heat by proper techniques decreases energy loss and upgrades the efficiency of energy utilization. Thorough undersatnding the status of recovery techniques for waste heat becomes an important research topic. This work analyzes the waste heat structure of China Steel Coproration (CSC), and reviews the status of recovery techniques for the sources with larger amount of waste heat. The techniques are strongly source dependent and no generalized technique is available. The waste heat power generation was found to be the most promising reutilization way. The recent structure of waste heat at CSC showed that 26% of the yearly used energy was emit-ted to the atmosphere, and only 22.5% of them was recovered and 35.3% could be recovered with proper technique. Overall speaking, the recovery performance of waste heat at CSC is somewhat lower than the averaged level of Japanese steel plants, and should be further promoted.
