合成堇青石之創新作業技術開發

An Innovative Cordierite Synthesis Process

摘要


本文說明在採用高嶺石、滑石、及氧化鋁粉末為原料合成堇青石時,如何將合成所需時間由十數小時縮為百分鐘。而其合成α-堇青石相含量則可達95%以上。其熱膨脹係數低於1.2x10^(-6)m/m/℃。研究係透過將氧化鋁粉末之粒徑由微米下降至奈米,以瞭解於合成堇青石過程氧化鋁粉末之角色。再利用一般加入晶種催化進行反應之原理,瞭解加/不加晶種在合成反應上催化所提拱之資訊。再利用加熱反應過程的操作步驟,模擬循催化反應進行。則確實可將高相純度堇青石於200分鐘內合成。此高相純度堇青石也因此呈現低於1.2x10^(-6)m/m/℃熱膨脹係數。足可用於生產高單價汽車觸媒轉化器之蜂巢陶管。

We developed an innovative process for cordierite synthesis using kaolin, talc, and alumina as the raw materials. We examined the size effect of using nano-scaled alumina powders to enhance spinel formation during the synthesis and the seeding effects that normally catalyze to form a new phase by reducing the kinetic energy. The new synthesis process developed had a total thermal treatment time of less than 200 minutes. The synthesized cordierite showed phase purity above 95% with coefficient of thermal expansion smaller than 1.2x10^(-6) m/m/°C.The synthesized cordierite can be used to fabricate honeycomb ceramics for making three-way catalyst converter.
