Under a uniaxial pressure of 10 ~ 20 MPa, unusual changes of lattice parameters and remarkable structural distortions have been observed in CMR perovskite La1-χSrχMnO3(0.15 ≤ χ ≤ 0.25). At the same time, the uniaxial pressure-induced change of transport properties has also been observed. The structural distortions were found to be in good agreement with the Bridgman equation. The pressure coefficients of the lattice parameters (∂ In d/∂P) can reach to about the magnitude of 10^(-4)/MPa. These phenomena suggest that the lattice of the manganese perovskite is flexible and the versatility of the electronic and magnetic properties in the perovskites may relate to the lattice flexibility.
