沙埋深度對濱刀豆幼苗出苗及生長性狀之影響

INFLUENCE OF SAND BURIAL DEPTH ON SEEDLING EMERGENCE AND GROWTH TRAITS OF CANAVALIA ROSEA

摘要


臺灣位處於亞熱帶季風氣候區,季風常引起海岸地區嚴重的風蝕和沙塵。沙塵防治已成為海岸管理之重要課題。濱刀豆(Canavalia rosea)為海岸沙丘常見之本土重要定砂豆科沙生植物。在濱海沙丘地帶,沙埋是影響植物生長與發育之重要環境因子。但是,甚少有關沙埋對濱刀豆出苗及幼苗生長之研究。本研究探討不同沙埋深度(0、1、2、3、4、6、8及10 cm)對濱刀豆出苗及幼苗生長性狀之效應。研究結果顯示,濱刀豆種子之最適沙埋深度為1和2 cm,表示淺層沙埋能有效提高幼苗出苗率。此外,淺層沙埋能增進幼苗之高生長、莖葉生物量及總生物量。綜合以上結果顯示,濱刀豆種子具有耐淺層沙埋之能力,適合作為海岸定砂植物。

Taiwan is located in the subtropical monsoon climate zone. Monsoon winds often induce serious wind erosion and fugitive dust hazards in coastal regions. Fugitive dust control has become a pressing issue of coast management. Canavalia rosea is an important sand-binding leguminous psammophyte occurring on coastal sand dune areas. Sand burial is an important environmental factor for plant growth and development on sand dunes areas. However, the effect of sand burial on seedling emergence and growth of C. rosea is seldom investigated. In this study, the effects of sand burial depth on seedling emergence and growth traits of C. rosea were investigated at eight sand burial depths (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, and 10 cm). The results show that shallow sand burial enhanced seedling initial emergence time and emergence rate. The optimal sand burial depths were 1 and 2 cm, indicating that shallow sand burial could enhance seedling emergence. Additionally, shallow burial also increased seedling height growth, stem leaf biomass and total biomass. Taken together, seeds of C. rosea can resist shallow sand burial. Therefore, C. rosea is suitable for use as sand-binding plants in coastal regions.
