Late polyethylene liner dissociation after cement-free hip joint replacement: A case report

摘要

Introduction: Total hip arthroplasty is one of the most successful orthopedic procedures, but its complications can be very challenging for both patient and surgeon. One rare but serious complication is polyethylene liner dissociation. Case Report: Here we report a case of 67-year-old male who presented with hip pain after bending forward. Polyethylene liner dissociation was found at urgent revision surgery that was not diagnosable by imaging alone. Conclusion: Polyethylene liner dissociation needs to be considered alongside infection and aseptic loosening in all cases of late-onset pain following total hip arthroplasty. Surgeons and radiologists need to be aware of the condition and some diagnostic features.
