Incomplete rotation of the midgut complicating volvulus is an important surgical emergency in neonate. Successful outcome of this clinical condition depends on prompt diagnostic studies of intestinal obstruction and timely surgical treatment. Delay in diagnosis can lead to vascular compromise due to volvulus. It presents with duodenal obstruction and bile emesis after normal flatus and feedings. Abdominal radiography may be nonspecific findings. Contrast enema is an indirect method for possible diagnosis. UGI series is a diagnostic method for incomplete rotation of the midgut complicated by volvulus. In this article we present a case of incomplete rotated small intestine and colon which were appreciated in contrast radiologic findings and confirmed in surgical intervention, we also describe the embryologic development associated with clinical features, management, and the evaluation of advantages in diagnostic radiographic studies of neonatal rotation anomalies.
