Aortic dissection, or dissecting aneurysm, can be one of the most dramatic of cardiovascular emergencies. Its symptoms can occur abruptly and progress rapidly. Prompt recognition and appropriate intervention are essential. Transient paraplegia and paresthesia are quite rare clinically in patients with descending aortic dissection. We present a patient with type B aortic dissection with sudden onset of excruciating anterior chest and back pain, accompanied by complete paraplegia and paresthesia of the lower limbs. Complete recovery was noted within 1 hour of presentation.
