Schwannomas are neurogenic, benign, well-circumscribed, and encapsulated tumors that arise from Schwann cells. Primary mesenteric schwannoma is very rare. In this report, we describe a 79-year-old female who presented with epigastric discomfort caused by a schwannoma originating from the mesentery of the transverse colon, which was successfully treated with complete surgical resection. We review the reported cases of primary benign mesenteric schwannomas and discuss the clinical, radiological, pathological and immunohistochemical features.
