Treatment of Femoral Complex Fractures with the Huckstep Interlocking Nail
Huckstep氏骨髓内釘用於複雜性股骨骨折之治療
摘要
從1983年11月至1987年11月，嘗試以Huckstep骨釘治療複雜性股骨骨折，其中追蹤超過六個月的，有62支骨折（60人）施行65支骨釘。病例分兩組研究，第一組包括對57支新鮮骨折施57支骨釘，第二組包括對7支陳舊或有併發症的骨折施行的8支骨釘。治療失敗或癒合延遲者，在第一組中有10支（佔18%），第二組中有三支（38%），在全部病患中共13支（佔20%）。 Huckstep骨釘之應用範圍廣，上螺絲時不須照X光，有足夠的穩定度，可使患肢早日復健，是其優點。但其缺點是手術困難度高，以致併發症的機會也多，我們建議，當用其他傳統方法無法處理時，才使用Huckstep骨釘。

From November 1983 to November 1987, 62 complexly fractured femurs (in 60 patients) treated with 65 Huckstep nails could be followed for more than six months. They are analysed in two groups. Group I consists of 57 Huckstep nailings for 57 fresh complex fractures, and Group II includes 8 operations for 7 old complicated fractures. Impaired union was noted in 10 operations (18%) in Group I, 3 operations (38%) in Group II, and 13 operations (20%) in the entire series. Advantages of Huckstep nail are its versatility, no need of X-ray control, immediate rigid fixation, and early rehabilitation. Disadvantages include extensive surgical exposure and texhnical difficulty with the increased risk of complications. We suggest that Huckstep nailing should be reserved for selected cases in which conventional devices can not be satisfactorily used.
