核苷與核苷酸混合物對老化促進小白鼠學習記憶能力之影響

Effect of Nucleoside-Nucleotide Mixture on Learning and Memory in Senescence Accelerated Mice

摘要

The purposes of this study were to examine the effect of 0.5% nucleoside-nucleotide mixture (NNM) supplement on learning and memory. After 12 weeks of feeding, the learning and memory of 1 and 7 months old male senescence accelerated mice (SAMP8) were assessed using single-trial passive avoidance and shuttle avoidance tests. The mice were sacrificed to examine the brain pathology. The results showed that there were no significant differences in body weight gain, food intake or locomotion between the two groups. The NNM group had better learning and memory than the control in 1 month old mice, but not significantly different, whereas seven months old SAMP8 fed with NNM were significantly better than the control group (p < 0.05). The lipofuscin was mainly found in the brain stem. The NNM groups had lower lipofuscin than the control groups in both the 1 and 7 months old mice. In conclusion, the NNM supplement can improve learning and memory abilities, and decrease brain lipofuscin in 7 months old mice.
