The experience in leisure pursuits is very important for leisure participants as well as leisure service providers. In terms of literature review and deductive process, this article tried to analyze the formation of experience participants have in a certain participation. Perceived stimuli, challenges and competence are the key variables directly influencing the formation of experience, while participation frequency, physical and mental conditions, and reciprocity exchanges among participants have indirect effects upon leisure experience. The sources and measurement of perceived stimuli, challenges, and competence were discussed. The classification and formation process of experience in leisure pursuits were analyzed. Some implications and suggestions were made for the future studies about personal leisure life management and leisure service management.
