The purpose of this study is to develop an information literacy curriculum in nursing practices that incorporates evidence-based nursing and to evaluate its learning effects. During the planning phase, the curriculum was designed on the basis of the Information Literacy Competency Standards for Nursing issued by Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and used semi-structured interviews to explore the information needs of clinical nurses. In terms of learning outcomes assessment, a quasi-experimental and pretest- posttest design was adopted. The results showed that the information needs of nurses were to resolve clinical problems in patient care and to write progress reports. Second, ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards for Nursing was used to design the five modules for the proposed evidencebased information literacy course. The information literacy competencies of the Experimental Group in posttest evaluation were significantly improved compared with the Control Group (p<.05). Finally, both the Experimental and Control Groups differed significantly in information literacy competencies, knowledge levels of evidence-based nursing practices, and confidence levels in answering questions. Three suggestions were proposed for future research.
