摘要

類風濕性關節炎乃是一種關節滑膜發炎的疾病，它的發生是對稱性的多關節發炎，在早期侵犯手及腳部的小關節，至晚期漸漸地擴散而侵犯其他關節。其特徵爲緩解與復發交替出現的一種慢性疾病，受損之關節最後會變成畸形，而漸失其正常的功能。
職能治療師在類風濕性關節炎的團隊中，佔了頗爲重要的一環，除了應詳細評估、了解病情，並針對其所需，協助病人減輕疼痛及發炎，維持關節活動度及其完整性，訓練肌力，並指導如何保護關節及節省體力之技巧等，使病患能接受及適應，並處理他們的疾病。

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory disease of the synovial joints of the body. It is a symmetrical polyarthritis involving the small joints of the hands and feet in the early stages, usually spreading to involve other joints later. It is a chronic disease characterized by remission and exacerbation. Involved joints are damaged with resultant deformity and loss of normal function.
Occupational therapists have an important part to play in the rehabilitation team for RA. They should carry out an assessment, understand the patient's physical condition, help to reduce pain and inflammation, maintain ROM and joint integrity, maintain muscle strength and endurance, and instruct about techniques of joint protection and energy conservation. In this way, the patients can accept and adjust to their disabilities and management their conditions easier.
