Effects of Eggplant Rootstocks on the Growth and Development of Grafted Tomato

摘要

茄子砧木嫁接番茄後之生育，除「TS41」茄子砧木嫁接小果番茄品種「聖女」產生嫁接後生長不良、未成齡即死亡的現象外，多數組合之生長均顯著優於對照未嫁接植株，早期產量也獲得提昇。果實品質除部分組合呈現果實缺鈣癥狀外，無其他不良之變異及影響。大果番茄品種「農友301」之嫁接栽培可選擇「小丹茄」及「VF（F1）」做砧木，小果番茄品種「聖女」以「VF（F1）」砧較為適宜。

To study the effects of eggplant rootstocks on the growth and development of grafted tomatoes, two commercial tomato varieties cv. 'Know-You 301' and 'Santa' were grafted onto 20 eggplant rootstocks in 1995-1996. The poor growth of grafted tomato cv. 'Santa' on 'TS41' eggplant resulted in early death of the plant. However, most of the grafted tomatoes had higher growth vigor and early yield in comparison to the ungraft plants. The symptom of Ca deficiency was observed on fruits of some grafted plants, but no off taste was found on fruits from grafted plants of using eggplant rootstocks. Experimental results suggested that Solanum torvum and 'VF (F1)' can be used as rootstocks to tomato cv. 'Known-You 301' and 'VF (F1)' for cv. 'Santa'.
