Logic is common as well as particular. The significant distinction among Greek logic, Indian logic, and Chinese logic is the difference in the dominant type of reasoning. In this paper, it is assumed that the primary type of reasoning in Chinese logic is inference, which is grounded in similarity, characterized by the stress on content rather than form, and logically informed by analogy andreasoning. Inference and its dominance in Chinese logic are consequences of the conditioning of the pre-Qin culture. Therefore, the understanding and explanation about inference should be a cultural interpretation.
