The process of translation not infrequently requires more effort than a decision to choose between a variety of words and phrases which would transmit the meaning expressed in the source language into the target language. Among other factors that also need to be taken into consideration, one can mention the effect of the translated text on a reader. This factor is particularly relevant in poetry. The various stylistic tools employed in poetic genres can play a vital role in helping a reader assimilate the message of a given lyric text. Consequently, the optimum translation would require the use of similar tools also in the target language. This paper aims at illustrating this challenge by presenting the last verse of the Song of the Vineyard from the Book of Isaiah 5:7 and a wordplay it contains. This presentation will be followed by the analysis and assessment of various translations of this verse into different languages.
