Electro-Spark Deposition is a newly developed technology of surface treatment of metals. It is very suitable for repairing the porosity or defects of metal surface in local conditions. In this study, we focused on the bonding strength of deposits and their surface morphology and microstructure of ESD aluminum. The difference of the surface properties between ESD and thermal sprayed aluminum was also discussed. The experimental results showed that the ESD aluminum layer had better bonding strength, lower porosity and oxidation phenomenon. Moreover, the better anti-corrosion property of ESD aluminum layer can be expected.
