This study aimed at developing a regression model for predicting the corrosion rate of zinc based upon the data from earlier studies on corrosion factors of atmosphere in Taiwan Furthermore, in order to establish a meaningful model, we completed significance tests and validated the basic assumptions of the regress ion analysis based on statistical principles. The results showed that chloride is the most significant factor to influence the corrosion rate of zinc in Taiwan among the factors of chloride deposition, sulfur dioxide deposition, and time of wetness According to the analysis results from a number of models, a simple regression model was developed for predicting the corrosion rate of zinc exposed to highly corrosive atmospheres.
