臺籍戰歿日本兵紀念場域的形塑：以新竹北埔濟化宮為例

創建於1961年的濟化宮源自新竹縣北埔鄉客籍礦工之小眾信仰，據稱因神蹟顯著，使得信徒日增，又獲礦主詹清河支持，而擴大為頗具規模的廟宇。經詹清河運籌帷幄，再藉著舉行公益活動廣開知名度，同時取得和黨、政之間的連結，使得宮務蒸蒸日上。其後，廟方表示因神靈諭示，1979年起，濟化宮領導們透過靖國會牽線，遂向靖國神社展開交涉，至1982年10月，對外公布取得其提供之《祭神簿》，且將合祀於靖國神社之臺籍日本兵亡靈迎回宮內安奉。不過，濟化宮此舉卻招來社會輿論的質疑，指其宣稱經靖國神社授權分靈之說為造假，靖國神社方面亦出面否認授權一事，使得濟化宮飽受臺灣社會多方抨擊。直到1990年代日本政府正式宣布向臺籍日本兵及戰死者遺族進行補償後，濟化宮義務提供部分遺族對日求償資料，許多遺族因此受惠，藉此契機使社會觀感為之一轉，此後更成為遺族尋親探源、定期追悼親屬的重要之地。

Located in Beipu, Hsinchu, Jihua Temple was founded in 1961 and initially served as a center for local beliefs among Hakka miners. It has continuously attracted believers due to its recurrent ＂miracles.＂ Moreover, with the support of Zhan Ching-ho, a mine owner, Jihua Temple gradually increased its local influence by engaging in charities and keeping good relationships with the ruling party. In the late 1970s, as a result of an oracle and an endeavor to gain profits for the newly constructed columbarium, leaders of Jihua Temple attempted to negotiate with Yasukuni Shrine in Japan for cooperation. In 1982 Jihua Temple announced that it had successfully obtained the ＂List of Enshrined Deities＂ from Yasukuni Shrine and would re-enshrine the shared spirit of Taiwanese martyrs worshipped at the Shrine. However, Yasukuni denied that it had authorized the List. Consequently, Jihua Temple was accused of faking the authorization and widely criticized for misleading the public. The bad press Jihua Temple received in the society continued until the 1990s, when the Japanese government formally declared offering compensations to descendants of the deceased Taiwanese soldiers. Jihau Temple voluntarily provided the applicants with required documents that the Japanese government asked for. The temple thus turned around public opinion and has been recognized ever since s a significant venue for comrade-in-arms and bereaved families in commemorating the war dead.
