The nuclear 18S rRNA, chloroplast rbcL, and mitochondrial cox I genes from Nothotsuga longibracteata, an endemic species to China, were sequenced. The phylogenetic analysis based on the DNA sequences of the three genes suggested that Nothotsuga can be regarded as an independent genus, and disagreed with the view that N. longibracteata would be a hybrid species between Tsuga chinensis and Keteleera evelyniana.
