Sustainable development indicators (SDI), which have been developed in the past decade, serve as a policy tool to supplement the shortcoming of the traditional GDP account The purpose of this article is to examine sustainable development indicators for Taiwan by referring to the experience of building these indicators in the international community In this article e focus on the indicators of economic pressure We first introduce the principles of choosing sustainable indicators and the types and structures of these indicators in the international organization Second, we introduce the indicators of economic pressure in the sustainable evaluation system and seven economic pressure indicators used in the CEPD sustainable development indicators Finally, we examine the calculation of aggregate index and the choice of eights in the index It is worth to further investigate the rationality of equal eights for each variable in the SDI index.
