A system of automatic spawning using the culture shell with 12 bottles in each operation for flammulina velutipes is presented. The system uses an infrared sensor to monitor the spawn in the quantitative plate, the blockage of the spawn discharger, and the spawning operation into the culture bottles. A proximity-switch controls the position of the culture shell and the operation of the cap opener and presser. The system is of simple structure, low cost, and high stability. The experimental results show that the operation period is 5 seconds which has the speed of 12 times faster than the conventional process.
