摘要

廿一世紀將是一個以網際網路發展為主導的多元化資訊時代，所有的個人裝置將與網路連結並共用網路資源；這也是一個服務導向的時代，PC的主要功能將由傳統運算轉為資訊流通為主，而網際網路的服務範圍，也由辦公室延伸至家庭進而擴展為行動中之個人服務 。此外，個人裝置將朝向微小化、個人化、專用化以及省電化發展，因此，人性化、自然化，具聽、說、寫和學習能力之人機介面益形重要 。為期能在此快速變遷之產業革命中，協助建立我國先進前瞻之資訊科技及培育人才，進而促進資訊產業之蓬勃發展。本計畫將著重研發組合式處理機與智慧卡關鍵技術、行動式資訊交換技術及新世代人機互動技術。

In the 21(superscript st) century, all the personal devices will be connected to the Internet, leading to a multi-dimensional information era pivoted upon the development of the Internet. This is also a time of service-oriented era. The major function of the PC will shift from computation to information exchange as the Internet service range is moving from the office to the household and further, to the mobile personal services. Along with the technology development, the personal device has been trimmed to feature miniaturization, personalization, professionalization and low-power consumption which highlight the importance of the nature of the human interface. To establish the advanced information technologies and high-tech professionals for domestic industry in the rapid changing industrial revolution, the Program focuses on the development of the configurable processor, smart card key technologies, mobile information exchange, and new-era human machine interface technologies.
