摘要
本文介紹工研院資通所執行Embedded Software SoC科發基金計畫，本計畫開發MPU/DSP之雙處理機單晶片所需之嵌入式軟體，包含雙處理器架構之嵌入式作業系統、整合軟體開發環境以及嵌入式多媒體解碼技術。雙核心架構主要是應用於如smart phone、PDA和PMP(Portable Media Player)等產品上。當MPU與DSP進行平行處理時，能提供多媒體影音運算最佳的執行效能。

This article introduces the project of Embedded Software SoC, which is sponsored by National Science Council and executed by ICL/ITRI. This project develops the software supporting embedded dual core (MPU/DSP) SoC, including dual core Operating System, integrated development environment, and embedded multimedia codec. By providing parallel computing capability, embedded dual core processor is an optimal architecture for multimedia application products like smart phone, PDA, and PMP.
