Overview of Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) Technologies for Unicast Traffic in E-UTRA Downlink

Multi-input multi-output (MIMO) is expected to be an important component of long term evolution (LTE) of 3G systems particularly for the downlink Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA). To achieve the target spectral efficiency and throughput of E-UTRA, several proposals have discussed and concluded on the need for multiple antenna systems. In harmony with such proposals, we give an overview of general MIMO aspects.
