Design of Relay Station for Broadband Wireless Networks

摘要


本篇論文提出在IEEE 802.16網路中,一個容易建置之訊號轉換中繼台的網路架構與通訊方法。訊號轉換中繼台的建置有三個目的,一為拓展基地台之覆蓋範圍,二為消弭覆蓋範圍內的死角,三是提升基地台覆蓋邊緣的吞吐量。我們提出在不更動基地台與行動裝置的情況下,在控制面採用隧道技術,在資料傳輸面採用橋接模式的訊號轉換中繼台通訊方法。由於控制訊息藉由隧道技術傳至核心網路端之伺服器以進行認證計費,所設計之EP-RS(Easy-Placement RS)可由無線營運商自行控管。最後,我們也針對實作考量做出分析與評估。

We propose an easy-to-build network structure and data transmission for RS (Relay Station) in IEEE 802.16. There are three objectives to build a relay station. The first is to extend the coverage area of one base station. The second is to eliminate the coverage holes. The third, to enhance the throughput on the cell edge. With no change on base station and mobile station, the solutions of tunneling technology in the control plane and bridge mode in data plane are used to design the network architecture and data transmission method. Since the control messages from mobile stations are tunneled to the AAA (Authentication, Authorization, Accounting) server directly, EP-RS (Easy-Placement RS) is able to be fully controlled by the operators. Finally, we also give an analysis of the realistic issues.
