Oral glycerin was given to 9 subjects, 2 were simple glaucoma and 3 were angle closure glaucoma in subacute phase. One was secondary glaucoma and the remaing three were normal subjects. Prompt lowering of intraocular pressure within normal limits was seen in all subjects. The maximal hrpotensive effect of oral glycerin occurred 90 minutes after administration of the drug, the average suitable dote is 1.5cc/kg of body weight. Duration of the drug is more than 4 hours after administration. Because of side effect such as headache, nausea and vomiting, the administration of glycerin should be restricted to nonresponsive case to Diamox or Daranide.
